Netherby Roman Fort

  • 80 AD fort built
  • 211 AD Headquarters of frontier Scouts and occupied by Cohors I Aelia Hispanorum
  • 222 AD bath house built
  • 350 AD abandoned but little evidence for this date

This fort was used by cavalry scouts over many years to survey the surroundings and forewarn of any activities by the Caledonians.
