Peutinger Table – Ancient Roman Road Map
The Tabula Peutingeriana, also known as Peutinger’s Tabula or Peutinger Table, is an ancient Roman road map. It’s an illustrated itinerarium that shows the layout of the cursus publicus, which was the official road network of the Roman Empire. Dating from around 1200, this parchment copy is based on a Late Antique original. The map covers Europe (excluding the Iberian Peninsula and the British Isles), North Africa, and parts of Asia, including the Middle East, Persia, and the Indian subcontinent.
