Roman coin find in Orkney thrills archaeologists – BBC News
It is thought the copper alloy coin found during a dig in Orkney dates from the mid 4th Century AD. The coin depicts a bust of a person – possibly the emperor – on its obverse and a standing figure with an image of goddess Victoria on the reverse. It was made in Trier between 348 and 350. See this post for more information on the coin. https://www.swandro.co.uk/post/not-the-dig-diary-sunday-6th-august-2017 Image courtesy of Swandro-Orkney Coastal Archaeology Trust.
