Rough Castle Fort

This fort is next to the Falkirk Wheel and is said to be the best one to visit on the Antonine Wall.

Rough Castle is Britain’s only fort with defensive pits called Lilia. These were also used in the Battle of Alesia in 52 BC in France by Julius Caesar

The 6th Cohort of Nervians and 20th Legion are known to have been stationed here.
