Roman Falkirk
In 79 AD the French general Agricola invaded Scotland with four legions of soldiers passing through Falkirk and using the fort at Camelon. In 142 AD the Antonine Wall was built passing through the centre of Falkirk with it’s fort under the bowling green being the Howgate Shopping Centre. The map below shows the Roman sights in Falkirk.
The impressive Falkirk Local History Society has been investigating local history since 1981and one of their members Geoff B Bailey has published this book that at 600 pages has every single Roman fact in the Falkirk area.
