Antoninus Pius 142 AD Invasion

The Governor of Britain in 139 AD was a Berber Algerian called Quintus Lollius Urbicus and he was instructed to build the Antonine Wall. “He waged a number of wars, but all of them were through his legates. For Lollius Urbicus,​32 his legate, overcame the Britons​33 and built a second wall, one of turf,​34 after driving back the barbarians.” (The Life of Antoninus Pius Historia Augusta)

Elements of the three legions in Britain as well as many auxiliary units would have taken part in this campaign.

A work in progress – read to read and write up material gathered. Antonine Wall was constructed on orders of Antoninus Pius. Cramond Fort was built.
