The Vardullians
The First Cohort of Vardullians was a 1000-strong auxiliary unit from Basque Spain stationed at Castlecary Fort on the Antonine Wall. Subsequently, they served on Hadrian’s Wall. Jedburgh Abbey has a stone inscription
