An amphora of olive oil was found with the name Julia scratched on it at Strageath Roman Fort from the period 142 AD. This is an unusual find, as women did not normally have their names on Roman amphorae.
The fort was occupied during Antonine times, was larger than many and was also where many camps were set up.

An Antonine I demolition layer in Building XI yielded a Dressel 20 amphora rim inscribed with the female name “IVLIA”, an incredibly rare find, as women’s names rarely appear on such transport vessels. A hexagonal glass bottle fragment was recovered from an Antonine context at the site.
