Kinneil Museum occupies a former coach house within Kinneil Estate, close to the Antonine Wall and the remains of Kinneil Roman fortlet. Its displays connect the Roman frontier with the much longer history of the estate and Bo’ness.
The museum has interpreted the Antonine Wall, Kinneil fortlet and local discoveries. The surrounding estate is equally important: visitors can walk through a landscape containing the Wall line, the fortlet site and later historic buildings.

Why does it matter?
Kinneil shows that the Antonine Wall was a controlled military frontier punctuated by small fortlets as well as larger forts. It is a good place to combine a local museum with the landscape the soldiers occupied.
